In the breathtaking expanses of Adjara, cradled between Kobuleti, Khelvachauri, and Keda municipalities, Mtirala National Park waits patiently for adventurers. Situated just 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from Kobuleti, and 27 kilometers (16.8 miles) from the Administrative building, this haven of biodiversity welcomes explorers with the promise of unforgettable experiences.
Visitors can venture to the park's Visitor Center, located in the quaint Village of Chakvi. From here, start your journey into the heart of this untouched realm, with its stunning Colchian forests, rare species of flora and fauna, and trails that seem to vanish into the wilderness. Spanning an area of nearly 16,000 hectares (39,537 acres), Mtirala offers plenty of room for exploration and discovery.
For thrill-seekers, the park boasts an impressive 220-meter (721-foot) zip-line, ensuring a dose of adrenaline amidst the serenity of the surroundings. Further adventure can be found on the park's two main trails - the "Tsablnari" and the "Tsivtskaro". The former is a 7-kilometer (4.3-mile) hike that takes you from the Visitor Centre to the stunning Chakvistskali River gorge, culminating in a breathtaking waterfall and serene lake. The latter, a two-day route, presents a greater challenge, stretching over 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) and reaching altitudes of up to 1250 meters (4101 feet) above sea level.
When you need respite from your explorations, the tourist shelter, located at the 9th kilometer (5.6 miles) of the "Tsivtskaro" trail, is there to welcome you. Overnight stay options are also available in the Visitor Centre or in the charming guest houses of Chakvistavi village.
The park also offers educational tours, horse riding, and dedicated picnic and camping areas for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. Not to be overlooked, the Rope Park is another major attraction, with separate zones for family trips and adult visitors.
Visit Mtirala National Park, and let its wet Colchian forests, unique wildlife, and adventurous trails transport you to a world of natural wonder and tranquility.
